James Jesus Angleton was director of counterintelligence at the CIA from 1954 until 1975. Close to Kim Philby, Angleton was shocked to discover in 1951 he was a KGB mole. Convinced that similar high level moles ought to be present within the CIA he devoted his time as head of CI to the search of this mole.
