How to Build a Dishwasher is the first full presentation of The New Artist, a project to develop art by and for robots undertaken by Ben Brown, Garth Zeglin, Geoff Gordon, Iheanyi Umez-Eronini, Marek Michalowski, Paul Scerri and Sue Ann Hong and Axel Straschnoy. It is being produced by Piritta Puhto.

The opening takes place on Friday March 26 at the Kerava Art Museum in the context of the Pixelache festival, starting with a seminar at 15:00.

Our project The New Artist has been granted a honorable mention in the 6th Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires - Telefónica Foundation Prize and will be part of an exhibition at the Espacio Fundación Telefónica in Buenos Aires, opening March 16.

I will be speaking at the Open Academy Lecture Series on Wednesday 03/02, 18:00 at Kaikukatu 4, Helsinki. Everybody is welcome.

The Taste of Metal is the first public presentation of The New Artist, a project to develop purely robotic art: art that is made by robots for other robots.

The New Artist takes place at the Robotics Institute and is the result of the collaborative efforts of Ben Brown, Geoff Gordon, Sue Ann Hong, Marek Michalowski, Paul Scerri, Axel Straschnoy, Iheanyi Umez-Eronini and Garth Zeglin. It is produced by Piritta Puhto.

The New Artist has been supported by the Alfred Kordelin Foundation, Promotion Centre for Audiovisual Culture (AVEK), National Arts Council (Finland), Uusimaa Arts Council, and Carnegie Mellon’s Collaborative Machining Center and STUDIO for Creative Inquiry.

The New Artist (working title) is an ongoing project in collaboration with Paul Scerri, Geoff Gordon, Garth Zeglin, Ben Brown, Marek Michalowski and Sajid Siddiqi. A video introducing the project will be shown during Fase 1 between May 29th and 31st in Buenos Aires.

Also in Buenos Aires, the project was awarded a honorable mention in the MAMba - Fundación Telefónica prize.
