The Finnish Astronautical Society

The Finnish Astronautical Society is a project on the past and present of the Finnish Space Programme. It focuses on the main astronautics organisation in Finland: a society founded in 1959 by enthusiastic schoolboys who, inspired by the space race, set out to build the country’s first rocket. With dedication, technical ability and little funding, they pushed forward, developing their knowledge of astronautics. While the envisaged rocket was never built, the society continues to be a place where aspiring rocketeers come together to figure out the challenges of rocket flight.
